RE: Plastic coolant reservoir tank leaks

I have a 2003 Allegro Bus on a Freightliner chassis with an 8.3 liter, 350 HP Cummins ISC engine. The original plastic coolant reservoir tank split, causing a coolant leak. Freightliner replaced the tank under warranty at no cost to me. Recently, the replacement tank also cracked, causing another coolant leak. This time the $400+ replacement was on me. The engine has never overheated, nor has there been any coolant-related problems other than the cracked tanks. Because 2 Freightliner dealers (in different parts of the country)had tanks in stock, I have reason to suspect that my problem is not an isolated case. I'm at a loss to explain why these tanks are cracking. Anyone have any ideas? This has been around before and again, besides being ridiculous for a chunk of******plastic, $400 bucks will get you something custom made from SS or Alum. that will outlast the coach and you.

RE: It's not a hot water heater

I think we all have too much time on our hands, just waiting for the bowl games to start and the beer to get cold. Can't wait to see if Tebow and the boys can handle Oklahoma. Anybody else looked up the bible verse he wears under his eyes? Nope, what does the verse say? He's not another one of these athletics that think God cares which team wins or that he actually would grant you some win over the other team in return for your prayers, I hope. Like that little idiot that used to kick for Tampa Bay, who made the sign of the cross before every kick, who developed the drinking problem, along with the other crutch he had. These people ought to be ashamed of themselves, already at the top of the world and praying for a ballgame while little children and others are dying horrible deaths all over the world. I'm way off subject here....lol, but then the OP, was sort of ridiculous and not very informative anyway. Also, I couldn't really pass up the opportunity to vent and have to create a another frivolous topic for it.

RE: It's not a hot water heater

Nope...it's actually a tank heater and will heat whatever you might happen to put in it along with the tank's construction material, with liquid and namely water being the additive of choice.

RE: Branson RV Parks

Stayed in Branson at Shenanigans two years ago,and wish I had gone to ABC. Was eaten alive by chiggers. Shenanigns is built on a hill and all campsites are tiered. Would never stay there again. One thing Positive about it is the owners and campground hosts are very nice. You failed to mention that they also have the best private bathrooms anywhere, if you happen to have a crowd or don't make use of the one in your coach. Actually there are so many in Branson, it's almost impossible to say which one might be the best. The tiered sites and the hill at Shenanigans didn't bother us any and was at least something different with a good view of the nightly fireworks on the next hill. When it comes to chiggers, I really don't think that they have any boundary lines and must have taken a day off when we were there, last July. If I'm ever back in Branson, which is doubtful, I'll definitely try another park, with all the choices there.

RE: Do You Use Black Tank Deodorant?

Used it for years and then quit. Big waste of money, as I see no difference. Just use a lot of flushing water and empty it every few days or so. Also have an OEM flushing system that seems to clean the tank pretty well as needed. I do still use a few ounces with a gallon or two of water when not in use for long periods and not sure that's accomplishing anything, either.

RE: How far did you go in '08??

7000 miles with a 3 month duration and some short trips here and there.

RE: Australian Class A Motorhome

Looks interesting. I like the bathroom design. Bumper to bumper 3 year warranty, is a big plus. BUT, the location of the entry door in this country would get you KILLED ! Let's assume for a minute that the driver's side is also on the right and any imports into the US will have everything reversed.

RE: Driver side door, any real advantage to it?

I had an old pace arrow with both a driver and passenger door. They had power windows with intermittent problems and were a pain overall, but I did get hit in the side once and used them to get out, and even though the side door wasn't hit directly, It certainly didn't miss it by far, even knocked out the steps. Seems that there ought to be something other than the windows for an emergency exit, when you think about it.

RE: A Offer Has Been Made.. Should I take it?

As has already been stated....whatever you decide, make sure you cover all the bases, so that there is no possibility for any scam attempts,... and keep us posted on the final results.

RE: Florida Bound

Don't forget to bring plenty of green to spend, as we need all we can get of the stuff down here.

RE: Class A mount a spare Tire

I carry a mounted spare in in it's own factory provided rear compartment. Actually the best I've ever seen and there's even room in there for other junk, but this doesn't mean that I'm planning on changing it myself. It does insure that the tire is available when needed and also provides a place to transport the damaged goods, in case of warranty claims or possible repairs. I also want to make sure my final replacement is of the same type and manufacture, which might have to come about after a bit of travel.

RE: JohnnyT Is Recovering In The Hospital!!!!!

Not a big deal Johnny and you'll be bouncing around again, before you know it, so here's to a speedy recovery. I've even been told by some, that they felt so good, they would have had it done whether, they needed it or not....lol.

RE: Help please, ID a MH

Thank a lot! Just what I was loking for. I now at least know who the manufacturer is. As a side note, the price asked for the one in the linked pics is 65 000 us dollars, which is the same as the price for a new chevy 2500 duramax pick up. Am I reading this right at 65 thousand US dollars?

RE: basic electricity: how to learn

In my opinion, you never really get the drift, unless you combine some hands on or trade school with some formal studies, such as BASIC ELECTRICITY 101 AND 102 at a small college or junior college. This is the quickest....most proficient and a lot of fun, especially with winter time night classes. I've seen many do this while their counterparts were getting their education at the bowling alley.

RE: What kind of car to tow?

I'd begin with a vehicle that I might buy anyway for everyday use and go from there. An ideal setup would be a Jeep Liberty...four wheel drive,...these are good to go, even with an auto transmission. I hear there were some years where the Saturn quit making the proper transmission for towing and then went back to it under popular demand. As in all of them, double check, before you buy.

RE: P30 wheel width

If it was me, I'd go with the 225's and have the same tire all around, like you'd expect to see on any coach. It may sit a little lower, but will have a greater load capacity,....also ride and track better.

RE: Compartment door on curb side

I was thinking about putting gas struts on the inside of my compartment and then attching to my door. Do you think this would work? Right now I have the normal clip that holds the door up. Anyone try this? If your doors go up flat against the body now, and you install struts, you're gonna be sorry. In fact I'd like to trade ya and have been thinking of removing mine and trying to go with your style, like my old coach was. When they're new, they're a pain to duck under, and once they begin to get weak, they become downright next to impossible and hateful.

RE: SAMS 6V

I've never failed to find 6v golf cart batteries at our local sam's club, but finding them or any automotive batteries on their website, seems to be a problem, as if they don't exist....and the same with Costco's Maybe it's just me, but I usually navigate these sites pretty well.

RE: Gas tank leak repair ideas

I had a pin hole leak in the bottom of a 79 1 ton chevy truck once upon a time and after sanding it real good, mixed up some good epoxy, spreading it on evenly and about the size of a half dollar. It was still there and dry when the company bought a new truck in 1990.
